October 12, 2007 (LPAC)--The wealthiest 1% of Americans earned 21.2% of all income in 2005, according to the IRS - a record beating even the dot.com bubble days of the 90s. It was "only" 19% in 2004, and beats the 20.8% of 2000. The entire bottom half of the population earned only 12.8% of all income, down from 13.4% in 2004 . The IRS says this income disparity was last seen in the 1920's, although they don't have precise records for that era.

President Bush, asked about this by the Wall Street Journal yesterday, responded: "First of all, our society has had income inequality for a long time. Secondly, skills gaps yield income gaps." His No Child Left Behind is aimed at solving that, he said. He made no mention of his "No Child Left Alive" veto of the SCHIP children's health insurance bill.

I just saw another one of those credit report commercials. The one where the guy says "I'm thinking of a number between 420 and 850. It's my credit score, and the higher it is the more money I save." What a crock of shit, savings. I'm going to save money on interest! The people who created your credit score are the same people who created credit cards. Now you get awarded for using their system more; the more they know about you, the more money you "save." It's like a Safeway Club Card (TM). But the whole interest system is a fucking scam invented by banks and credit lenders to make money off of money. I just laugh every time I watch it... I don't have a credit score--I checked--and I don't want to get one. I won't buy into their ridiculous scheme of money-lending. Fuck it. What ever happened to money representing some silver and gold locked up in Fort Knox? Now money is just some mysterious number which, the bigger your number, the bigger it will get. But the more you make, the more you spend.
